Mission Statement
As followers of Jesus Christ, our church is a community called to love, honour, worship, and serve God. We invite others to share our Christian journey as we grow in faith and engage in ministry in our town and mission in our world.

THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you. Amen.

HYMN:
MV 1 Let Us Build a House (v. 1, 2, 4, 5)

Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live,
a place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive.
Built of hopes and dreams and visions; rock of faith and vault of grace;
here the love of all shall end divisions:
All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where prophets speak, and words are strong and true,
where all God’s children dare to seek to dream God’s reign anew.
Here the cross shall stand as witness and as symbol of God’s grace;
here as one we claim the faith of Jesus:
All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where hands will reach beyond the wood and stone
to heal and strengthen serve and teach, and live the Word they’ve known.
Here the outcast and the stranger bear the image of God’s face;
let us bring an end to fear and danger:
All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where all are named, their songs and visions heard
and loved and treasured, taught and claimed as words within the Word.
Built of tears and cries and laughter, prayers of faith and songs of grace;
let this house proclaim from floor to rafter:
All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Words and music: Marty Haugen.

Confession and Absolution:
Dear friends in Christ, as we turn our hearts and minds to worship almighty God, let us confess our sins.

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen

Merciful God, grant to your faithful people pardon and peace, that we may be cleansed from all our sins and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus the Christ, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The Peace:
The Peace of Christ be always with you!
And also with you!

THE STORY OF FAITH IS PROCLAIMED
Hutłilala's! Listen deeply!
Hebrew Scripture: Jeremiah 2: 4-13

Psalm 81: 1, 10-16 VU 796-797
Refrain 1: Sing out with joy to God our strength.
Sing out with joy our strength,
shout in triumph to the God of Jacob.
“It is I who am God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth, and I will fill it.
But my people would not hear my voice, Israel would not obey me.
So I left them in their stubbornness of heart to follow their own devices.
O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would follow my paths.
I would soon put down their enemies, and turn a hand against their foes.
Those who hate me would cringe before me, their fate would be sealed forever.
But you I would feed with the finest of wheat, you I would satisfy with honey from the rock.”
R 1: Sing out with joy to God our strength.

Music: Paschal Edward Jordan

Epistle: Hebrews 13: 1-8, 15-16

HYMN:
VU 567 Will You Come and Follow Me

Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown,
will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown
in you and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare
should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer
in you and you in me?

Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean,
and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean
in you and you in me?

Will you love the 'you' you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found
to reshape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound
in you and you in me?

Christ, your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In your company I’ll go
where your love and footsteps show.
Thus I’ll move and live and grow
in you and you in me.

Words: John Bell, The Iona Community; Music: Scottish traditional; arr. The Iona Community.

God be with you.
And also with you.

Sermon/ Reflection

Intercessions and Thanksgivings
Minute for Mission/ PWRDF
Our Common Anglican and United Cycles of Prayer

In peace we pray to you, Lord God.
Silence

For all people in their daily life and work;
For our families, friends, and neighbours, and for all those who are alone.
For this community, our country, and the world;
For all who work for justice, freedom, and peace.
For the just and proper use of your creation;
For the victims of hunger, fear, injustice, and oppression.
For all who are in danger, sorrow, or any kind of trouble;
For those who minister to the sick, the friendless, and needy.
For the peace and unity of the Church of God;
For all who proclaim the gospel, and all who seek the truth.
For all bishops and ministers;
For all who serve God in the Church.
For our own needs and those of others.
Silence. The people may add their own petitions.

Hear us, Lord.
For your mercy is great.
We thank you, Lord, for all the blessings of this life.
Silence. The people may add their own thanksgivings.

We will exalt you, O God;
And praise your name for ever and ever.
We pray for those who have died in the peace of Christ, and for those whose faith is known to you alone, that they may have a place in your eternal kingdom.
Silence. The people may add their own petitions.

Lord, let your loving kindness be upon them;
Who put their trust in you.
Gracious God, you have heard the prayers of your faithful people; you know our needs before we ask, and our ignorance in asking. Grant our requests as may be best for us. This we ask in the name of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Offertory Hymn:
VU 382 Breathe on me Breath of God

Breathe on me, breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until my will is one with thine,
to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
until this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, breath of God:
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.

Words: Edwin Hatch, Music: Robert Jackson

Response:
VU 541 Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
Amen

Words: adapted from Thomas Ken Music: Louis Bourgeois, in Genevan Psalter.

Prayer over the gifts

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Hymn:
