THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you.

Alleluia! Christ is risen indeed:
O come, let us worship.

*Hymn: VU 356 Seek Ye First the Kingdom

Seek ye first the kingdom of God
and God’s righteousness,
and all these things shall be added unto you.
Hallelu, hallelujah.

Ask and it shall be given unto you;
seek and you shall find;
knock and the door shall be opened unto you.
Hallelu, hallelujah.

We do not live by bread alone,
but by every word
that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Hallelu, hallelujah.

Words and Music: Karen Lafferty

Sharing the Peace:
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

Collect:
Almighty God, Jesus the Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. Give us grace to love one another and walk in the way of his commandments, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Alleluia!

THE STORY OF FAITH IS PROCLAIMED

Acts of the Apostles Acts 7: 55-60

Psalm 31: 1-5, 15-16 VU 758 Part One and Three

Refrain: I trust in you, you are my God.
In you, O God, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
Deliver me in your righteousness; incline your ear; come quickly to my rescue.
R: I trust in you, you are my God.

Be my rock of refuge, a stronghold to keep me safe.
You are indeed my rock and fortress; lead me and guide me for your own name’s sake.
Release me from the net that they hid for me, for you are my protector.
Into your hands I commend my spirit, for you have redeemed me, O God of truth.
R: I trust in you, you are my God.

My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.
Let your face shine on your servant, and save me, for your mercy’s sake.
R: I trust in you, you are my God.

Music: La Scala Santa, Ireland Arranged by Erik Routley.

Epistle: 1 Peter 2: 2-10

*Hymn: VU 186 Now the Green Blade Rises

Now the green blade rises from the buried grain,
wheat that in the dark earth many years has lain;
love lives again, that with the dead has been:
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

In the grave they laid him, love by hatred slain,
thinking that he would never wake again,
laid in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen;
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

Forth he came at Easter, like the risen grain,
he that for three days in the grave had lain;
raised from the dead, my living Lord is seen;
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

When our hearts are wintry, grieving or in pain,
your touch can call us back to life again,
fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been;
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

Words: John M. C. Crum Music: medieval French carol; harm. Martin Fallas Shaw

 May God be with you!
And also with you!
The Good News of Jesus according to John.
Glory to you, Jesus the Christ

*Gospel: John 14: 1-14
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you Jesus the Christ.

Sermon Reflection

Affirmation of Faith:
Hear, O Israel,
the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your mind, and with all your strength.

This is the first and the great commandment.
The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.
There is no commandment greater than these.

*Offertory Hymn: MV 115 Behold, Behold, I Make All Things New

Behold, (behold,) behold, (behold,) I make all things new,
beginning with you and starting from today.
Behold, (behold,) behold, (behold,) I make all things new,
my promise is true, for I am Christ the way.

Words and music: John L Bell.

*Offering Response: VU 581 When We Are Living v 2

Through all our living, we our fruits must give.
Good works of service are for offering.
When we are giving, or when receiving,
we belong to God; we belong to God.

Prayer over the Gifts

Prayers of the People
PWRDF/ Minute for Mission

One: … In your mercy;
All: Hear our prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer: SUNG: SGP 12

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

*Hymn: SNC 86 You are Holy

Part 1
You are holy, you are whole.
You are always ever more
than we ever understand.
You are always at hand.
Blessed are you coming near.
Blessed are you coming here
to your church in wine and bread,
raised from soil, raised from dead.

Part 2
You are holy,
you are wholeness,
you are present.
Let the cosmos praise you, Lord!
Sing hosanna
in the highest!
Sing hosanna!
Sing hosanna to our God!

Text and music: Per Harling

The Blessing and Dismissal
May God bless you and keep you. May God make his face to shine on you and be gracious to you. May God look upon you with favour and grant you peace. Amen. Alleluia!

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Thanks be to God. Alleluia! Gilakas’la

Three-fold Amen
