THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you. Alleluia!

The Sun of righteousness has risen: O come, let us worship.

*Hymn: VU 245 Praise the Lord with the Sound of Trumpet

Praise the Lord with the sound of trumpet,
praise the Lord with the harp and lute,
praise the Lord with the gentle sounding flute.
Praise the Lord in the field and forest,
praise the Lord in the city square,
praise the Lord any time and anywhere.
Praise the Lord in the wind and sunshine,
praise the Lord in the dark of night,
praise the Lord in the rain or snow, or in the morning light.
Praise the Lord in the deepest valley,
praise the Lord on the highest hill,
praise the Lord, never let your voice be still.

Praise the Lord with the crashing cymbal,
praise the Lord with the pipe and string,
praise the Lord with the joyful songs you sing.
Praise the Lord on a weekday morning,
praise the Lord on a Sunday noon,
praise the Lord by the light of sun or moon.
Praise the Lord in the time of sorrow,
praise the Lord in the time of joy,
praise the Lord every moment, nothing let your praise destroy.
Praise the Lord in the peace and quiet,
praise the Lord in your work or play,
praise the Lord everywhere in every way!

Words and music: Natalie Sleeth

Acts of the Apostles Acts 1: 1-11

Psalm 47 VU 771
Refrain 2: Praise to God who reigns above! Hallelujah!
Clap your hands, all you peoples, cry out to God with shouts of joy!
For the Most High is to be feared, reigning in might, over all the earth.
R 2: Praise to God who reigns above! Hallelujah!

God has subdued the peoples around us, set nations at our feet,
and has chosen for us a heritage, the pride of Jacob, beloved of God.
God has gone up with shouts of triumph,
has gone up with a fanfare of trumpets.
For God reigns over all the earth!
Sing praises with your utmost skill.
R 2: Praise to God who reigns above! Hallelujah!

God reigns over all the nations, and sits in holiness enthroned.
The nobles of the nations assemble with the people of the Everlasting God.
For earth’s defenders belong to God,
to God the highly exalted.
R 2: Praise to God who reigns above! Hallelujah!

Epistle: Ephesians 1: 15-23

Hymn: VU 229 God of the Sparrow

God of the sparrow God of the whale
God of the swirling stars
How does the creature say Awe
How does the creature say Praise

God of the earthquake God of the storm
God of the trumpet blast
How does the creature cry Woe
How does the creature cry Save

God of the rainbow God of the cross
God of the empty grave
How does the creature say Grace
How does the creature say Thanks

God of the hungry God of the sick
God of the prodigal
How does the creature say Care
How does the creature say Life

God of the neighbour God of the foe
God of the pruning hook
How does the creature say Love
How does the creature say Peace

God of the ages God of the hand
God of the loving heart
How do your children say Joy
How do your children say Home.

 May God be with you!
And also with you!

Sermon Reflection

Sharing the Peace:
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

*Offertory Hymn: MV 37 Each Blade of Grass

Each blade of grass, ev’ry wing that soars,
the waves that sweep across a distant shore,
make full the circle of God.
Each laughing child, ev’ry gentle eye,
a forest lit beneath a moon-lit sky,
make full the circle of God.

Each silent paw, ev’ry rounded stone,
the buzz that echoes from a honey’d comb,
make full the circle of God.
Each fire-brimmed star, ev’ry out-stretched hand,
the wind that leaps and sails across the land,
make full the circle of God.

Each icy peak, ev’ry patterned shell,
the joyous chorus that the dawn foretells,
make full the circle of God.
Each cosmic hue, ev’ry creature’s way,
all form the beauty of this vast array,
making full the circle of God.

We give you but your own,
what e’er the gift may be;

We give it gratefully.

Prayer over the Gifts

Prayers of the People
PWRDF/ Minute for Mission

One: . . . Let us pray to God
All: God, have mercy.

*The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

The Blessing and Dismissal

*Hymn: VU 59 Joy to the World

Joy to the world! the Lord is come:
let earth receive her King!
Let every heart prepare him room,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the world! the Savior reigns:
let all their songs employ,
while fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains,
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
nor thorns infest the ground:
he comes to make his blessings flow
far as the curse is found,
far as the curse is found,
far as, far as the curse is found.

He rules the earth with truth and grace,
and makes the nations prove
the glories of his righteousness
and wonders of his love,
and wonders of his love,
and wonders, wonders of his love.

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Thanks be to God. Alleluia! Gilakas’la

*Three-fold Amen
