THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD

Call to Worship:
Divine Voice –
You sing and the universe comes into being.
Divine Breath –
You breathe and all things spring to life.
Divine Word –
You call and creation is sustained.
Divine Flesh –
You are born among us.
Divine Spirit -
You fill all that has been formed.
Divine Life –
You are the pulse of all that is
And so, in amazement, awe, wonder, and celebration,
We marvel at this mystery.
In you, all things live and move and have being.
In all things, you live and move and express your Divine artistry.
And so, we join with creation in the eternal song of worship and wonder. Amen.

Gathering Song: CP 362 Tell Out My Soul

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord!
Unnumbered blessings, give my spirit voice;
tender to me the promise of his word;
in God my Saviour shall my heart rejoice.

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his name!
Make known his might, the deeds his arm has done;
his mercy sure, from age to age the same;
his holy name—the Lord, the mighty one.

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his might!
Powers and dominions lay their glory by;
proud hearts and stubborn wills are put to flight,
the hungry fed, the humble lifted high.

Tell out, my soul, the glories of his word!
Firm is his promise, and his mercy sure.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord
to children’s children and for evermore!

THE STORY OF FAITH IS PROCLAIMED
Hutlilala’s! Listen as God’s Word is proclaimed!
Hebrew Scripture: Exodus 12: 1-14

Psalm: VU 245 Praise the Lord with the Sound of Trumpet

Praise the Lord with the sound of trumpet,
praise the Lord with the harp and lute,
praise the Lord with the gentle sounding flute.
Praise the Lord in the field and forest,
praise the Lord in the city square,
praise the Lord any time and anywhere.
Praise the Lord in the wind and sunshine,
praise the Lord in the dark of night,
praise the Lord in the rain or snow, or in the morning light.
Praise the Lord in the deepest valley,
praise the Lord on the highest hill,
praise the Lord, never let your voice be still.

Praise the Lord with the crashing cymbal,
praise the Lord with the pipe and string,
praise the Lord with the joyful songs you sing.
Praise the Lord on a weekday morning,
praise the Lord on a Sunday noon,
praise the Lord by the light of sun or moon.
Praise the Lord in the time of sorrow,
praise the Lord in the time of joy,
praise the Lord every moment, nothing let your praise destroy.
Praise the Lord in the peace and quiet,
praise the Lord in your work or play,
praise the Lord everywhere in every way!

Words and music: Natalie Sleeth

Epistle: Romans 13: 8-14

Hymn: CP 494 Not for Tongues of Heavens Angels

Not for tongues of heaven’s angels,
not for wisdom to discern,
not for faith that masters mountains,
for this better gift we yearn:
may love be ours, Lord;
may love be ours.
May love be ours, O Lord.

Love is humble, love is gentle,
love is tender, true, and kind;
love is gracious, ever patient,
generous of heart and mind:
may love be ours, Lord;
may love be ours.
May love be ours, O Lord.

Never jealous, never selfish,
love will not rejoice in wrong;
never boastful nor resentful,
love believes and suffers long:
may love be ours, Lord;
may love be ours.
May love be ours, O Lord.

In the day this world is fading,
faith and hope will play their part;
but when Christ is seen in glory,
love shall reign in every heart:
may love be ours, Lord;
may love be ours.
May love be ours, O Lord.

Text: Timothy Dudley-Smith Music: Michael Joncas.

May God be with you!
And also with you!
The Holy Gospel of Jesus the Christ according to Matthew.
Glory to you Christ our Saviour.

The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you Jesus the Christ.

Reflection: The Rev. Christine Muise

Prayers for the Day
Let us pray.
We bring to God our concerns for today. …
(add your concerns)
Christ hear us;
God graciously hear us! AMEN.

The Peace
Christ who has nourished us, is our peace. Strangers and friends, siblings, young, old and in-between, he has broken down the barriers to bind us to him and to each other. Having tasted his goodness, let us share his peace.
The peace of Christ be always with you.
And also with you.
(share the peace)

*Offertory hymn: VU 389 God is Here

God is here! As we your people
Meet to offer praise and prayer,
May we find in fuller measure
What it is in Christ we share.
Here, as in the world around us,
All our varied skills and arts
Wait the coming of the Spirit
Into open minds and hearts.

Here are symbols to remind us
Of our lifelong need of grace;
Here are table, font and pulpit;
Here the cross has central place.
Here in honesty of preaching,
Here in silence, as in speech,
here, in newness and renewal,
God the Spirit comes to each.

Here our children find a welcome
In the Shepherd's flock and fold;
Here as bread and wine are taken,
Christ sustains us as of old.
Here the servants of the Servant
Seek in worship to explore
What it means in daily living
To believe and to adore.

Lord of all, of church and kingdom,
In an age of change and doubt,
Keep us faithful to the Gospel;
help us work your purpose out.
Here, in this day's dedication,
All we have to give, receive;
We, who cannot live without you,
We adore you! We believe!

Words Fred Pratt Green; Music: William P. Rowlands or Cyril Vincent Taylor.

*Response: MV 196 We Will Take What You Offer

We will take what you offer, we will live by your word;
we will love one another and be fed by you Lord.
We will take what you offer, we will live by your word;
we will love one another and be fed by you Lord.

Prayer over the Gifts

The Great Thanksgiving
May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.

We thank and praise you almighty Father. ...
...And so with the wonders of creation and the songs of praise of all your creatures both in heaven and on earth we join in one great act of awe and adoration:

SNC 86: You Are Holy, You Are Whole

Part 1
You are holy, you are whole.
You are always ever more
than we ever understand.
You are always at hand.
Blessed are you coming near.
Blessed are you coming here
to your church in wine and bread,
raised from soil, raised from dead.

Part 2
You are holy,
you are wholeness,
you are present.
Let the cosmos praise you, Lord!
Sing hosanna
in the highest!
Sing hosanna!
Sing hosanna to our God!

Text and music: Per Harling

God of all creation, send your Spirit upon the goodness of the earth...
...Do this in memory of me.
So we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
As we remember ...
...we share this bread and raise this cup in fulfilment of the Lord’s command: through him, with him, in him in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, Almighty God, forever and ever Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

Sharing of the meal

We are one in the Body and Love of Christ.
We are one in the Cup of Christ’s Salvation.

Prayer after Communion
All your works praise you, O Lord.
And your faithful servants bless you. Gracious God we thank you for feeding us With the body and blood of your Son, Jesus the Christ. May we, who share his body, live his risen life; we who drink his cup, bring life to others; we, whom the Spirit lights, give light to the world. Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us, so that we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hymn: VU 333 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

Love divine, all loves excelling,
joy of heaven to earth come down,
fix in us thy humble dwelling,
all thy faithful mercies crown.
Jesus, thou art all compassion,
pure, unbounded love thou art;
visit us with thy salvation,
enter every trembling heart.

Come, almighty to deliver;
let us all thy grace receive;
suddenly return, and never,
nevermore thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
serve thee as thy hosts above,
pray, and praise thee, without ceasing,
glory in thy perfect love.

Finish, then, thy new creation;
pure and spotless let us be;
let us see thy great salvation
perfectly restored in thee,
changed from glory into glory,
till in heaven we take our place,
till we cast our crowns before thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Final Blessing

Threefold Amen
