THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD

Call to Worship
Come! Bring your doubts, your hopes, your faith.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
Come! Bring your questions, your wonderings, your misgivings.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
Come! Bring your fear, your sorrow, your joy.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
Come, Let us worship God.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

*Hymn: VU 220 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, who rules all creation;
O my soul, praise him, at all times your health and salvation.
Come, all who hear, brothers and sisters draw near,
joining in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, above all things so mightily reigning,
keeping us safe at his side, and so gently sustaining.
Have you not seen, how all you needed has been
met by God's gracious ordaining?

Praise to the Lord, who will prosper our work and defend us;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend us:
ponder anew what the Almighty can do
who out of love will befriend us.

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath come now with praises before him!
Let the Amen sound from God's people again:
gladly with praise we adore him.

Prayer of the Day

THE STORY OF FAITH IS PROCLAIMED
Hutłilala's! Listen deeply as Scripture is proclaimed.
Acts of the Apostles: 4: 32-35

Psalm 133
How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion.
For there the LORD ordained the blessing of life forevermore.

Epistle 1 John 1:1-2:2

*Hymn: VU 382 Breathe on Me, Breath of God

Breathe on me, breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until my will is one with thine,
to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
until this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, breath of God:
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.

*Gospel: John 20: 19-31
Hear what the Spirit is saying to the church.
Thanks be to God.

Sermon Reflection

Prayers of the People
Minute for Mission/ PWRDF

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Peace
The peace of Christ be always with you.
And also with you.

*Hymn: VU 179 Hallelujah, Hallelujah Give Thanks

Hallelujah, hallelujah.
Give thanks to the risen Christ;
hallelujah, hallelujah!
Give praise to God's name.

Jesus is Lord of all the earth,
firstborn of all creation.
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
Give thanks to the risen Christ;
hallelujah, hallelujah!
Give praise to God's name.

Spread the good news o'er all the earth:
Jesus has died and is risen.
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
Give thanks to the risen Christ;
hallelujah, hallelujah!
Give praise to God's name.

We have been crucified with Christ,
now we shall live forever.
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
Give thanks to the risen Christ;
hallelujah, hallelujah!
Give praise to God's name.

Come let us praise the living God,
joyfully sing to our Saviour.
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
Give thanks to the risen Christ;
hallelujah, hallelujah!
Give praise to God's name.

Words and music: Donald Fishel; arr. Darryl Nixon.

*Response: VU 337 Blessed Assurance (verse 3)

Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Saviour am happy and blessed;
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with God's goodness, lost in Christ's love.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Saviour all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Saviour all the day long.

Prayer over the Gifts
The name of Jesus will be honoured by these gifts.
Through these gifts, those of us who are downhearted will be encouraged. Through these gifts, the sick among us will have some company. Through these gifts, our spiritual health will be nurtured. Through these gifts, the worldwide church will be supported.
You have brought Christian gifts.
Christ’s name be praised! Amen.

Commissioning
Listen to God’s breath within it is the stirring of belief. Voice those questions and doubts: it is the making of faith. Touch those scars and feel those wounds: It is the place of resurrection. Let the breath for God sustain you this day and forever.
Thanks be to God. Amen! Gilakas’la! Alleluia!

*Hymn: VU 352 I Danced in the Morning

I danced in the morning when the world was begun,
and I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,
and I came from heaven and I danced on earth;
at Bethlehem I had my birth.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he;
and I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced for the scribe and the pharisee,
but they would not dance and they would not follow me;
I danced for the fishermen, for James and John;
they came with me and the dance went on.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he;
and I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced on the Sabbath and I cured the lame;
the holy people said it was a shame;
they whipped and they stripped and they hung me high,
and left me there on a cross to die.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he;
and I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced on a Friday when the sky turned black;
it’s hard to dance with the devil on your back;
they buried my body and they thought I’d gone,
But I am the dance and I still go on.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he;
and I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

They cut me down and I leap up high;
-- I am the life that will never, never die;
I’ll live in you if you’ll live in me;
-- I am the Lord of the dance, said he.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he;
and I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be,
and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.
