Our outreach is an extension of our mission to be disciples of Christ. We do this in a number of different ways according our situation, gifts, and capacity.
Daily Focus
- St. Columba Sanctuary: we are open every morning between 7-9 AM to offer safe space, hospitality, breakfast, games, connection and community for people experiencing houselessness, chaotic housing, and mental health challenges.
- St. Columba Sunday Meal Partnership with Gwa'dzi Managed Alcohol Program to distribute 36 outreach meals to the community along with lunches in the Hall. The Sanctuary is open from 7 AM- 1 PM on Sundays.
- We support the outreach of the Loaves and Fishes Food Depot in Port Hardy. We hosted bi-weekly hamper pick-up for a number of years until they set up a depot downtown. As an agency we also receive food for distribution in the community and to support our daily and weekly food program.
Monthly Focus
- Raises funds each month for Port Hardy and Vancouver Island groups and organizations. These donations are of loose change and/or beverage bottles from church folks and the wider community.
Fundraising Dinners
- Open to the community these dinners raise funds for either general or specific church needs or for other groups and organizations identified by the congregation as in need of support.
Support for the wider churches work in the world
To support the wider mission work of the United Church of Canada and the Anglican Church of Canada the congregation also donates money to the Mission and Service (M&S) Fund and the Alongside Hope (previously PWRDF).
