For years, we have been working toward a larger, purpose-built facility that would allow us to expand our food recovery operations and better respond to the growing need for food support in our communities. Today, I am thrilled to share that this long-held vision has become a reality. In August, we officially moved into the Tom Harris Regional Food Centre.
The new facility provides the space, infrastructure, and capacity to recover more food, store it safely, and distribute it more efficiently to communities across Vancouver Island and Coastal British Columbia. More than that, it equips us to meet increasing demand while strengthening regional food security for years to come. This is far more than a warehouse, it is an investment in people, in community, and in the belief that everyone deserves access to healthy, nutritious food.
The Tom Harris Regional Food Centre was made possible through the generosity and commitment of our community. Donors, volunteers, partners, businesses, foundations, and governments all played a vital role in transforming an ambitious vision into a lasting resource that will serve communities across Vancouver Island and Coastal British Columbia for generations.
As we settle into this exciting new chapter, our mission remains the same: rescuing good food, reducing waste, and ensuring it reaches the people who need it most. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this journey through donations, volunteering, advocacy, or by helping share our story.
