Sheila Cook has been worshipping at St. Columba's her whole life. She is our Pacific Mountain Regional Council LeaderShift Team Member working alongside Christine Muise with "O'man's Nam'a - We Are One". Sheila is a newly ordained priest living and serving on the North Island and is currently enrolled in the Vancouver School of Theology Indigenous Studies Program. As part of that journey in September 2022 Sheila was ordained as a transitional deacon serving the Mid-North Island and ordained as a priest in December 2022. Currently she is appointed priest at Christ Church Anglican Church in Alert Bay as well as supporting Indigenous community members in the Port Hardy area.
The Diocese of British Columbia acknowledges that for thousands of years the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth, and Kwakwaka’wakw peoples have walked gently on the unceded territories where we now live, work, worship, and play. We seek a new relationship with the first peoples here, one based in honour and respect, and we thank them for their hospitality.
Office hours are Tuesday and Wednesday mornings 9 AM to noon. Drop-ins will need to ring the door bell(s) to gain access.
We thank you for registering to attend in-person worship at St. Columba's Port Hardy. A reminder that, at this time, people are respectfully asked to worship via our online option if they are unvaccinated, though we are not checking proof of vaccination at worship services. We also ask everyone to evaluate their current health status using provincial guidelines each time they arrive at the church and wear a mask at all times in the building.
