THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
And also with you.
Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

*Hymn:
VU 291 All Things Bright and Beautiful

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
in love, God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colours,
God made their tiny wings.

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
in love, God made them all.

The purple-headed mountains,
the river running by,
the sunset and the morning
that brightens up the sky;

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
in love, God made them all.

The cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden:
God made them every one.

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
in love, God made them all.

The rocky mountain splendour,
the lone wolf’s haunting call,
the great lakes and the prairies,
the forest in the fall;

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
in love, God made them all.

God gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God our maker,
who has made all things well.

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
in love, God made them all.

Centering Stillness
Let us hold this moment open to the Spirit of God. (silence)

Collect

THE STORY OF FAITH IS PROCLAIMED
Hutlilala’s! Listen as God’s Word is proclaimed!
Hebrew Scripture: Deuteronomy 8: 7-18

Psalm 65
O God, to you we owe hymns of praise in Zion; to you our vows must be fulfilled, you who hear our prayers and before whom all flesh must stand.
When we are overcome by our sins, you provide the atonement for them.

Happy are those you choose, those you draw near to dwell in your courts!
We are filled with the blessings of your house, the holy things of your Temple!

With powerful deeds of justice you answer us, God our Deliverer, in whom all the ends of the earth and the farthest seas put their trust.
You set the mountains in place by your power, having armed yourself with might.

You still the roaring of the seas, the roaring of the waves, and the tumult of the peoples.
And those who dwell at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your marvels; You make the sunrise and sunset shouts for joy!

You nourish and water the land--- greatly you have enriched it.
The streams of God are full of water; you provide us with grain as you ordained.

Thus have you prepared the land: drenching its furrows, breaking up its clods, softening it with showers, blessing its yield.
You have crowned the year with your bounty and your paths overflow with a rich harvest; the untilled meadows overflow with abundance, and rejoicing clothes the hills.

The fields are covered with flocks and the valleys are blanketed with grain.
They shout and sing for joy!

Epistle: 2 Corinthians 9: 6-15

MV 135 Called by Earth and Sky

Called by earth and sky,
promise of hope held high.
This is our sacred living trust,
treasure of life sanctified,
called by earth and sky.

Precious these waters, endless seas,
deep ocean’s dream,
waters of healing, rivers of rain,
the wash of love again.

Called by earth and sky,
promise of hope held high.
This is our sacred living trust,
treasure of life sanctified,
called by earth and sky.

Precious this gift, the air we breathe;
wind born and free.
Breath of the Spirit, blow through this place,
our gathering and our grace.

Called by earth and sky,
promise of hope held high.
This is our sacred living trust,
treasure of life sanctified,
called by earth and sky.

Precious these mountains, ancient sands;
vast and fragile land.
Seeds of our wakening, rooted and strong,
Creation’s faithful song.

Called by earth and sky,
promise of hope held high.
This is our sacred living trust,
treasure of life sanctified,
called by earth and sky.

Precious the fire that lights our way,
bright dawning day.
Fire of passion, sorrows undone,
our faith and justice one.

Called by earth and sky,
promise of hope held high.
This is our sacred living trust,
treasure of life sanctified,
called by earth and sky.

Sermon Reflection

Intercessions
(Let us offer our prayers to the source of all love and all life,
At the bidding: Gracious God;
Please respond: “Hear our prayer.”)

Confession and Absolution
Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness. Silence is kept.

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus the Christ. Amen.

The Peace
The peace of Christ be always with you.
And also with you.

*Offertory hymn:
VU 468 Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ

Let us talents and tongues employ,
reaching out with a shout of joy:
bread is broken, the wine is poured,
Christ is spoken and seen and heard.

Jesus lives again,
earth can breathe again,
pass the Word around:
loaves abound!

Christ is able to make us one,
at the table he set the tone,
teaching people to live to bless,
love in word and in deed express.

Jesus lives again,
earth can breathe again,
pass the Word around:
loaves abound!

Jesus calls us in, sends us out,
bearing fruit in a world of doubt,
gives us love to tell, bread to share:
God (Immanuel) everywhere!

Jesus lives again,
earth can breathe again,
pass the Word around:
loaves abound!

Words: Fred Kaan

*Responsive Hymn:
Glory and Gratitude and Praise

Glory and gratitude and praise
Now let earth to heaven raise
Glory and gratitude and praise
These we offer to God.

Prayer over the Gifts

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING
May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
It is right to offer thanks and praise.

It is right to give you thanks and praise, O Lord, our God, sustainer of the universe, you are worthy of glory and praise.
Glory to you for ever and ever.

At your command all things came to be: the vast expanse of interstellar space, galaxies, suns, the planets in their courses, and this fragile earth, our island home; by your will they were created and have their being.
Glory to you for ever and ever.

From the primal elements you brought forth the human race, and blessed us with memory, reason, and skill; you made us the stewards of creation.
Glory to you for ever and ever.

But we turn against you and betray your trust; and we turn against one another. Again and again you call us to return. Through the prophets and sages, you reveal your righteous law. In the fullness of time you sent your Son, born of a woman, to be our Saviour. He was wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities. By his death he opened to us the way of freedom and peace.
Glory to you for ever and ever.

Therefore, we praise you, joining with the heavenly chorus, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with those in every generation who have looked to you in hope, to proclaim with them your glory, in their unending hymn:
Holy, holy, holy, God. God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed are you, Lord our God, for sending us Jesus, the Christ, who on the night he was handed over to suffering and death, took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, gave it to his friends, and said, “Take this and eat it: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper, he took the cup of wine; he gave you thanks, and said, “Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
Glory to you for ever and ever.

Gracious God, we recall the death of your Son Jesus Christ, we proclaim his resurrection and ascension, and we look with expectation for his coming as Lord of all the nations. We who have been redeemed by him, and made a new people by water and the Spirit, now bring you these gifts. Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon this offering of your Church, that we who eat and drink at this holy table may share the divine life of Christ our Lord.
Glory to you for ever and ever.

Pour out your Spirit upon the whole earth and make it your new creation. Gather your Church together from the ends of the earth into your kingdom, where peace and justice are revealed, that we, with all your people, of every language, race, and nation, may share the banquet you have promised; through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, all honour and glory are yours, creator of all.
Glory to you for ever and ever. Amen

And now as our Saviour has taught us:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sharing of the elements
We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
We, being many, are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

The gifts of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.

The Bread: We are One in the Love of Christ.
The Cup: We are One in the Cup of Salvation.

Prayer after Communion

*Hymn:
MV 212 Sent Out in Jesus Name

Sent out in Jesus' name,
our hands are ready now
to make the earth the place
in which the kingdom comes.
(Repeat)

The angels cannot change a world of hurt and pain
into a world of love, of justice and of peace.
The task is ours to do, to set it really free.
O help us to obey, and carry out your will.

Words and music: traditional song, Cuba

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Dismissal
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God!!!

Three-fold Amen!
