THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD
Call to Worship
We have come to affirm our historic faith.
To worship the God of our mothers and fathers.
We have come to remember God’s benefits to us the living.
To respond in thanksgiving to the mighty works of God in our lives.
We have come to affirm our trust in the God of all futures,
To whose name be blessing and honor,
Glory, and power forever and ever. Amen.
*Hymn: CP 355 All Creatures of Our God and King
All creatures of our God and King,
lift up your voice and with us sing:
alleluia, alleluia!
Bright burning sun and golden beam,
Pale silver moon that gently gleams,
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
alleluia, alleluia!
Great rushing winds and breezes soft,
you clouds that ride the heavens aloft,
O sing now, alleluia!
Fair rising morn, with praise rejoice;
Stars nightly shining, find a voice:
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Swift flowing water, pure and clear,
make music for your Lord to hear,
alleluia, alleluia!
Fire, so intense and fiercely bright,
you give to us both warmth and light,
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Earth, ever fertile, day by day
Unfold your blessings on our way:
O sing now, alleluia!
All flowers and fruits that in you grow,
God’s glory let them also show:
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
All you with mercy in your heart
forgiving others, take your part:
alleluia, alleluia!
All you that pain and sorrow bear,
praise God, and cast on God your care:
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
And even you, most gentle death, waiting to hush our final breath,
O sing now, alleluia!
You lead back home the child of God,
for Christ our Lord that way has trod:
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Let all things their creator bless,
and worship God in humbleness,
alleluia, alleluia!
Praise God the Father, praise the Son,
and praise the Spirit, Three-in-One:
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Opening Prayer
Lord, open my lips and my mouth will proclaim your praise.
I arise today, through God’s strength to pilot me:
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to secure me: against temptations of vices,
against everyone who shall wish me ill, afar and near,
alone and in a crowd. Amen
Prayer of the Day: (inspired by Revelation 7: 9-17)
THE STORY OF FAITH IS PROCLAIMED
Hutłilala's! Listen deeply as Scripture is read.
Hebrew Scripture: Revelation 7: 9-17
Psalm 34 VU 761
Refrain: Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of our God.
I will bless God at all times, God’s praise will continually be in my mouth.
My soul will glory in God, the humble will hear and be glad.
O magnify God with me, let us exalt God’s name together.
I sought God, who answered me, and freed me from all my fears.
Look to the Most High, and let your light shine, and your faces will not be ashamed.
This poor soul cried out and God heard, and saved me from all my troubles.
R: Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of our God.
Your angel, O God, keeps guard over those who fear you and delivers them.
Taste and see that our God is good. Happy are those who take refuge in God.
Fear God, you who are the saints, for those who fear God lack nothing.
Strong lions suffer want and go hungry, but those who seek God lack no good thing.
R: Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of our God.
But you, God, redeem the life of your servants;
none who take refuge in you are condemned.
R: Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of our God.
Refrain Words, Music: Robert E. Kreutz.
Epistle 1 John 3: 1-3
*Hymn: VU 713 I See a New Heaven
I see a new heaven.
I see a new earth
as the old one will pass away,
where the fountain of life flows
and without price goes
to all people who abide in the land.
There, there on the banks of a river bright and free,
yielding her fruit, firm in her root,
the Tree of Life will be.
I see a new heaven.
I see a new earth
as the old one will pass away,
where the fountain of life flows
and without price goes
to all people who abide in the land.
There, there where death dies and our lives are born again,
body and soul, struggling but whole
like flowers after the rain.
I see a new heaven.
I see a new earth
as the old one will pass away,
where the fountain of life flows
and without price goes
to all people who abide in the land.
There, there where the darkness brings visions from above.
There where the night, bearing new light,
reveals the promise of love.
I see a new heaven.
I see a new earth
as the old one will pass away,
where the fountain of life flows
and without price goes
to all people who abide in the land.
There, there where we work with the love of healing hands.
Labour we must, true to our trust
to build a promised new land.
I see a new heaven.
I see a new earth
as the old one will pass away,
where the fountain of life flows
and without price goes
to all people who abide in the land.
*Gospel: Matthew 5: 1-12

Thanks be to God.
Sermon Reflection
Prayers of the People
Minute for Mission/ PWRDF
In peace let us pray to God, at the phrase:
O God, have mercy, please respond: wipe away our tears.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
The Peace
The peace of Christ be always with you.
And also with you.
*Hymn: MV 112 Amen, Amen, It Shall Be So
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Amen, alleluia!
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Amen, alleluia!
Blest are the poor in spirit,
the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
Blest are the sorrowful, the sorrowful,
they shall be comforted.
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Amen, alleluia!
Blest are the gentle, the gentle,
the earth shall be their own.
Blest are the hungry for justice,
they shall be satisfied.
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Amen, alleluia!
Blest are the merciful, the merciful,
they shall find mercy shown.
Blest are the pure in heart,
for they shall see their God.
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Amen, alleluia!
Blest are the earth’s peacemakers,
each one shall be God’s child.
Blest are those victimized for doing good,
the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Amen, alleluia!
Amen, amen, it shall be so!
Amen, alleluia!
*Response: VU 541 Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
praise God, all creatures high and low;
give thanks to God in love made known:
Creator, Word and Spirit One! Amen
Prayer over the Gifts
Benediction: (based on Revelation 7: 12, 16-17)
Blessing and glory and wisdom
and thanksgiving and honor and power
and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen!
We go out to be God’s people.
Go in strength to be the saints of God
for you will hunger no more, and thirst no more;
the sun will not strike you, nor any scorching heat.
We go out to be God’s people.
Live the way of God with confidence for God is your shepherd,
and will guide you to the spring of life.
We go out to be God’s people.
*Hymn: VU 678 For the Healing of the Nations
For the healing of the nations,
God we pray with one accord;
For a just and equal sharing
of the things that earth affords.
To a life of love in action,
help us rise and pledge our word.
Lead us forward into freedom,
from despair your world release;
That, redeemed from war and hatred,
all may come and go in peace.
Show us how through care and goodness,
fear will die and hope increase.
All that kills abundant living,
let it from the earth be banned:
Pride of status, race or schooling,
dogmas that obscure your plan.
In our common quest for justice,
may we hallow life`s brief span.
You, Creator God, have written
your great name on humankind;
for our growing in your likeness
bring the life of Christ to mind;
that, by our response and service,
earth its destiny may find.
*Three-fold Amen
