THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD
Welcome & Announcements
Land Acknowledgement & Acknowledgment of War

Acclamation:
In this time and place We gather on the ancestral territories of the Kwakwaka'wakw peoples. From many places and peoples, we come to this house in prayer.
In this time and place We gather in the name of the living God. We meet in the presence of Jesus Christ, risen and alive.
In this time and place We gather with the community of faith around the globe and across the ages. In this time and place heaven and earth are one.
In this time and place We are not alone, but one in Christ. Knit together in the unity of the Spirit.
In this time and place Hallowed, expectant, one people in God. In the name of the Holy and Blessed One, Creator, Redeemer and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Centering Stillness
Presider: Let us hold this moment open to the Spirit of God. (silence)

Opening Hymn: VU 155 Jesus Christ is Risen Today

Jesus Christ is risen today, hallelujah!
our triumphant holy day, hallelujah!
who did once, upon the cross, hallelujah!
suffer to redeem our loss. Hallelujah!

Hymns of praise then let us sing hallelujah!
unto Christ, our heavenly King, hallelujah!
who endured the cross and grave, hallelujah!
sinners to redeem and save. Hallelujah!

But the pains which he endured, hallelujah!
our salvation have procured; hallelujah!
now above the sky he’s King, hallelujah!
where the angels ever sing. Hallelujah!

Sing we to our God above, hallelujah!
praise eternal as God's love; hallelujah!
praise our God, ye heavenly host, hallelujah!
praise the Son and Holy Ghost. Hallelujah!

Prayer
There are alleluias in the air,
that skip a beat as they dance over tombs,
that push at stones and reveal a saviour,
that explode with a slow beauty in the sunrise,
that wake the birds and tear at the dawn.
It is God’s special word: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
There are alleluias in the air,
that are filled with the voice of God,
that are spoken aloud in the chambers of parliament,
that break open hope for the poor,
that paint faith with the colour of rainbows.
It is God’s special word: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
There are alleluias in the air,
that fill silence with song,
that fill fear with hope,
that fill injustice with compassion,
that fill worn out things with new life.
It is God’s special word: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Let us worship amidst the alleluias!

Collect of the Day

THE STORY OF FAITH IS PROCLAIMED
Reading from the Acts of the Apostles: Acts 10: 34-43
Psalm/Canticle: Psalm 118 VU 837
Refrain: Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Let Israel now say:
'God's love endures for ever.'
Let the house of Aaron say:
'God's love endures for ever.'
Let those who fear God say:
'God's love endures for ever.'
R: Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

God is my strength and my song; God has become my salvation.
There are shouts of joy and deliverance in the tents of the righteous.
The right hand of God does mighty things; the right hand of God raises up.
The right hand of God does mighty things.
I shall not die, but live; and I shall proclaim what God has done.
God indeed punished me, but did not give me over to death.
R: Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Open to me the gates of the temple, that I may enter and give thanks to God.
This is the gate of God; through it the righteous shall enter.
I thank you for you have answered me; you have become my salvation.
The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.
This is God's doing, marvellous in our eyes.
This is the day that God has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
R: Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Reading from Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians: 15: 1-11

*Gospel Hymn: SNC 86 You Are Holy, You are Whole (x3)

Part 1
You are holy, you are whole.
You are always ever more
than we ever understand.
You are always at hand.
Blessed are you coming near.
Blessed are you coming here
to your church in wine and bread,
raised from soil, raised from dead.

Part 2
You are holy,
you are wholeness,
you are present.
Let the cosmos praise you, Lord!
Sing hosanna
in the highest!
Sing hosanna!
Sing hosanna to our God!

Text and music: Per Harling

RESPONDING TO THE WORD OF GOD
Sermon Reflection

Prayers of the People
In peace, we pray to you, God.
Silence
For all people in their daily life and work;
For our families, friends, and neighbours, and for all those who are alone.
For this community, our country, and the world;
For all who work for justice, freedom, and peace.
For the just and proper use of your creation;
For the victims of hunger, fear, injustice, and oppression.
For all who are in danger, sorrow, or any kind of trouble;
For those who minister to the sick, the friendless, and the needy.
For the peace and unity of the Church of God;
For all who proclaim the gospel, and all who seek the truth.
For Anna our bishop and Chris the National Indigenous Bishop and for all bishops, for Carmen our Moderator, for all other ministers;
For all who serve God in his Church.
For our own needs and those of others.
Silence. The people may add their own petitions.
Hear us, God;
For your mercy is great.
We thank you, God, for all the blessings of this life.
Silence. The people may add their own thanksgivings.
We will exalt you, O God;
And praise your name for ever and ever.
We pray for all those who have died in the peace of Christ, and for those whose faith is known to you alone, that they may have a place in your eternal kingdom.
Silence. The people may add their own petitions.
God, let your loving kindness be upon them;
Who put their trust in you.
We pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins.
Silence may be kept.
Have mercy upon us, most merciful God;
in your compassion, forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone; and so, uphold us by your Spirit that we may live and serve you in newness of life, to the honour and glory of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Gracious God, you have heard the prayers of your faithful people; you know our needs before we ask, and our ignorance in asking. Grant our requests as may be best for us. This we ask in the name of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Peace
The peace of God be always with you.
And also with you.

*Offertory Hymn: VU 468 Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ

Let us talents and tongues employ,
reaching out with a shout of joy:
bread is broken, the wine is poured,
Christ is spoken and seen and heard.

Jesus lives again,
earth can breathe again,
pass the Word around:
loaves abound!

Christ is able to make us one,
at the table he set the tone,
teaching people to live to bless,
love in word and in deed express.

Jesus lives again,
earth can breathe again,
pass the Word around:
loaves abound!

Jesus calls us in, sends us out,
bearing fruit in a world of doubt,
gives us love to tell, bread to share:
God (Immanuel) everywhere!

Jesus lives again,
earth can breathe again,
pass the Word around:
loaves abound!

Words: Fred Kaan

Response: IONA: CAYP 80: Glory and Gratitude and Praise

Glory and gratitude and praise

These we offer to God.

*Closing Hymn: VU 186 Now the Green Blade Rises

Now the green blade rises from the buried grain,
wheat that in the dark earth many years has lain;
love lives again, that with the dead has been:
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

In the grave they laid him, love by hatred slain,
thinking that he would never wake again,
laid in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen;
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

Forth he came at Easter, like the risen grain,
he that for three days in the grave had lain;
raised from the dead, my living Lord is seen;
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

When our hearts are wintry, grieving or in pain,
your touch can call us back to life again,
fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been;
love is come again, like wheat arising green.

Words: John M. C. Crum
