THE COMMUNITY GATHERS BEFORE GOD
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you.
Alleluia! The Sun of righteousness has risen:
O come, let us worship.

*Hymn: CP 465 Here in This Place New Light Is Streaming v 1,2,4

Here in this place new light is streaming;
now is the darkness vanished away.
See in this space our fears and our dreamings,
Brought here to you in the light of this day.
Gather us in- the lost and forsaken;
gather us in- the blind and the lame;
call to us now, and we shall awaken;
we shall arise at the sound of our name.

We are the young- our lives are a mystery;
We are the old- who yearn for your face.
We have been sung throughout all of history,
called to be light to the whole human race.
Gather us in- the rich and the haughty;
gather us in- the proud and the strong;
give us a heart so meek and so lowly;
give us the courage to enter the song.

Not in the dark of buildings confining,
not in some heaven, light years away,
but here in this place the new light is shining;
now is the kingdom, now is the day.
Gather us in and hold us forever;
gather us in and make us your own;
gather us in, all peoples together,
fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

Text and music: Marty Haugen.

Acts of the Apostles Acts 4: 5-12

Psalm 23 VU 747 The Lord is My Shepherd

The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want;
he makes me down to lie
in pastures green; he leadeth me
the quiet waters by.

My soul he doth restore again;
and me to walk doth make
within the paths of righteousness,
even for his own name's sake.

Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,
yet will I fear no ill,
for thou art with me; and thy rod
and staff me comfort still.

My table thou hast furnished
in presence of my foes;
my head thou dost with oil anoint,
and my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life
shall surely follow me:
and in God's house for evermore
my dwelling place shall be.

Epistle: 1 John 3: 16-24

Hymn: VU 169 Good Christians All, Rejoice and Sing

Good Christians all, rejoice and sing!
Now is the triumph of our King!
To all the world glad news we bring:
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

The Lord of life is risen today!
Bring flowers of song, bedeck the way;
let every tongue rejoice and say:
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

Praise we in songs of victory
that love, that life which cannot die,
and sing with hearts uplifted high:
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

Your name we bless, O risen Lord,
and sing today with one accord
the life laid down, the life restored:
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

May God be with you!
And also with you!
The Holy Gospel of Jesus the Christ according to John.
Glory to you Christ our Saviour.
*Gospel: John 10: 11-18
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you Jesus the Christ.

Sermon Reflection

Sharing the Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

*Offertory Hymn:
MV 94 Love Knocks and Waits

Love knocks and waits for us to hear,
to open and invite;
Love longs to quiet every fear,
and seeks to set things right.

Love offers life, in spite of foes
who threaten and condemn;
embracing enemies, Love goes
the second mile with them.

Love comes to heal the broken heart,
to ease the troubled mind;
without a word Love bids us start
to ask and seek and find.

Love knocks and enters at the sound
of welcome from within;
Love sings and dances all around,
and feels new life begin.

Words and music: David Charles Damon.

*Offering Response:
VU 542 We Give You but Your Own

We give you but your own,
what e’er the gift may be;
all that we have is yours alone,
We give it gratefully.

Prayer over the Gifts

Prayers of the People

PWRDF/ Minute for Mission
One: . . . Let us pray to God
All: God, have mercy.

*The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Blessing and Dismissal
May God bless us and keep us. May God make his face to shine on us and be gracious to us. May God look upon us with favour and grant us peace.
Amen. Alleluia!

*Hymn: VU 331 The Church’s One Foundation

The church’s one foundation
is Jesus Christ our Lord;
we are his new creation
by water and the Word;
from heaven he came and sought us
that we might ever be
his living servant people,
by his own death set free.

Called forth from every nation,
yet one o'er all the earth;
one charter of salvation:
one Lord, one faith, one birth.
One holy name professing
and at one table fed,
to one hope always pressing,
by Christ's own Spirit led.

Mid toil, and tribulation,
and tumult of our war,
we wait the consummation
of peace forevermore;
till with the vision glorious
our longing eyes are blessed,
and the great church victorious
shall be the church at rest.

We now on earth hath union
with God the Three in One,
and share through faith communion
with those whose rest is won.
Oh, happy ones, and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we
like them, the meek and lowly,
on high may dwell with thee.

Glory to God,
whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Thanks be to God. Alleluia! Gilakas’la

*Three-fold Amen
